Responsibilities
Operates a zero-turn mower or tractor with attachments to mow grass, remove brush, and prep sports fields at county parks and along rights-of-way
Operates assigned equipment to improve park grounds, clean ditches, and install infrastructure
Operates a variety of hand and power tools to clear land, cut limbs, and remove brush
Removes litter and debris along county roads and parks, empties trash receptacles
Applies pesticides to control weeds and pests
Maintain and prepare sports fields for play
Assists in the maintenance and repair of playground equipment, fences, courts, and pavilions
Installs and maintains landscaping
Installs, repairs, and cleans culverts
Patches potholes
Installs, maintains, and repairs road, traffic, and park signs; removes damaged signs, including fabricating and applying lettering
Performs traffic control and access control operations
Greases and performs preventive maintenance on equipment; changes blades
Performs other work as required or when directed by administration
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
