Academic Director: High School Summer Program

Landmark College is offering a position for an Academic Director for their High School Summer Program, which provides an introduction to college living and learning for rising high school juniors and seniors. The Academic Director will manage and lead academic activities, ensuring high-quality instruction and supporting faculty in curriculum development.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Develops and participates in effective, timely communication strategies for all stakeholders in the short-term program
Mentors faculty in accordance with guidelines for Short-Term Programs
Responds to performance issues and participates in personnel matters as appropriate
Ensures curricular consistency and integrity
Assists with planning and administration of orientation
Facilitates routine faculty meetings to facilitate development and communication about the program and student progress, including holding planning meetings in the spring
Initiates and facilitates in the end of program assessments
Conducts performance review of the program instructors
Ensures faculty and students have the necessary equipment and resources for the program
Participates in the hiring of faculty and staff, including substitutes as needed
Consults with student affairs team on student conduct matters
Reads application files of accepted students and places in appropriate classes
Works with the registrar to coordinate scheduling of classes, times, and rooms
Creates and confirms student schedules
Problem solves registration questions during registration (from parents, students, advisors)
Assists with planning and administration of faculty training and student orientation
Facilitates routine faculty meetings to facilitate development and communication about the program and student progress, including holding planning meetings in the spring
Monitors student progress
Conducts academic interventions to support student success
Advises faculty in matters of student conflict or management
Communicates with families about curriculum and student progress, before, during and after the program
Supports the efforts of the Senior director for Short-Term Programs in conversion and recruitment efforts
Reviews student admission files, as necessary

Required

Master's degree
Knowledge and ability to support pre-college students
Demonstrated effectiveness teaching students with LD, Autism, and/or ADHD
Demonstrated effectiveness teaching students with language and executive function difficulties
Demonstrated effectiveness as an instructor
Management experience
Ability to work collaboratively
Ability to support a positive working environment
