SAFETY ENGINEER
USAJOBS is seeking a Safety Engineer Intern to serve as an advanced trainee professional, performing duties aimed at progressing in Safety Engineering assignments. Responsibilities
Conduct inspections of operations and facilities where the type of hazard anticipated is low in nature and is predictable in advance
Conduct safety training, develop class schedules, maintain necessary records/data, maintain classroom equipment, facility, etc, under supervision of qualified personnel
Conduct portions of investigations of mishaps, and prepares and presents findings
Participate in established Air Force Occupational Safety Programs to Include Hazard Abatement, Confined Space, Ergonomics, etc
Conduct special assignments in keeping with the formal training plan
Qualification
Required
You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
You must have completed a 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level
Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0
You will be required to serve a one-year probationary period
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship
Must be registered for Selective Service
Must sign a mobility agreement
A security clearance will be required
Must meet suitability for Federal employment
You must have completed all requirements for an associate, bachelor, master, professional, or doctorate degree from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two years or will complete these requirements by 1 March 2021
To qualify for a GS-07: Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education, or bachelor's degree with Superior academic Achievement
To qualify for a GS-09: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
Knowledge of fundamental cost and economic analysis concepts
Knowledge of acquisition requirements, and the development and approval processes used in large organizations
Practical understanding of models and estimating relationships
Ability to develop and utilize data collection techniques and to analyze data
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to interact effectively with others
Preferred
A Degree in Safety or Occupational Health fields (Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, industrial psychology, and organizational psychology
