Responsibilities

Performs work related to the collection, organization and /or tracking of information in support of the security and enforcement programs

Receives and compiles information from various sources related for police and emergency incidents, takes appropriate action regarding fire, intrusion, duress/panic alarms, and directs patrol responses and /or notifies responsible personnel depending on the type of incident or request

Operates a wide variety of communication systems and related security equipment

Compiles and prepares reports related to events occurring in the operation of the police control center for dissemination

Monitors the operation of all communication/security and related electronic equipment daily

Monitors security surveillance cameras and detects criminal activity in progress, suspicious behavior patterns, and observes suspects and known offenders, and takes supporting law enforcement action by continuously monitoring that person until they are intercepted and detained

Provides immediate and courteous directional and/or assistance to patients, visitors, volunteers and employees

Receives a long range of various telephone calls that have to be handled in a sensitive nature

Performs or monitors standardized aspects of established security program operations such as establishing and maintaining security records or operating an established pass and identification system

Provides general information to employees and the public and furnishes traffic directions

English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-4) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed (4) years of education above the high school level

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements

A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education

Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment
