Chief Lending Officer

Abbey Credit Union Inc is seeking a Chief Lending Officer (CLO) to lead all aspects of their lending operations. The CLO will oversee consumer, mortgage, commercial, and indirect lending while aligning strategies with organizational objectives to drive growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of effective Lending planning
Manage at a strategic level the Indirect, Commercial, Consumer, Mortgage, and Collections departments of Abbey. Direct and monitor all lending operations to ensure established goals and objectives are met or exceeded. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of products, services, and delivery systems in place, and make recommendations for changes
Participate in the establishment of the annual department budget and monitor performance to budget throughout the year; establish yearly sales goals for indirect, commercial services, mortgage, and consumer lending programs, and initiate action to achieve established goals
Executes established goals and coordinates their implementation with other departments and with subordinates
Ensures the effective performance of lending-related services
Ensures lending activities are conducted following established policy guidelines and standards and are appropriately documented
Works with management team members and direct reports to develop appropriate training and incentive programs. Reviews, tracks, and communicates the loan and collection activity monthly to ensure progress toward stated goals and objectives
Plans and develops sales initiatives designed to improve consumer lending product usage, increase average loan balances, and communicate the desired lending image to members and potential members/borrowers
Responsible for identifying market trends, opportunities and threats, new products, processes, services, and delivery systems to stay well informed of market trends and factors that could potentially impact Abbey's operations and growth
Reviews overall lending activity (consumer, mortgage, and member business lending), loan officer and delinquency reports, and the impact on financial statements to determine results. Compares activity with predetermined objectives and initiates actions and processes required to continuously improve lending productivity and profitability
Prepares and cross-trains a direct report to perform all duties in his/her absence
Ensures the maintenance of statistics relative to loans issued, report data, delinquency follow-up, etc
Ensures business loans, accounts, and property management are managed effectively to meet the needs of borrowers
Is actively involved in various community or civic organizations. Develops business opportunities because of engagement with the community
Generally, attends and leads periodic Credit Committee meetings. Attends monthly Board of Directors meetings at the President’s request

Fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, examiners, external partners, and the broader community
Overseeing loan quality and servicing
Directing lending managers and team leaders
Inspiring innovation and ensuring that all lending operations are conducted in accordance with established policies, procedures, and federal and state regulations
