The Port of Virginia is seeking a Risk Management Intern to gain hands-on experience in process mapping and workflow analysis. The role involves interviewing stakeholders to understand the claims process and proposing improvements.

Responsibilities

Interview stakeholders across Risk, HSE, and Signal Adjusting to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Incident and Claims process

Map the full lifecycle of claims—from incident intake to closure—identifying inefficiencies, delays, and manual steps within the workflow

Propose process improvements such as standardized claim type naming structures and automation opportunities

Develop a visual flowchart and a gap analysis report

Present findings and recommendations to the Risk team

Required

Must be currently enrolled and in an accredited program or graduate program (having completed freshman / first year) during the time of the program

Must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) from June 1, 2026 to July 24, 2026
