The State of Arizona's Department of Environmental Quality is seeking an Administrative Services Officer 1 to join their Business & Finance Unit. This role involves billing, collections outreach, data entry, and assisting with various accounting-related duties to support the agency's mission of protecting public health and the environment.

Responsibilities

Keeps accurate billing records and assist with billing questions or reconciliations as needed
Updates any related logs or provides feedback to programs related to billing completion
Logs and researches returned mail and invalid E-mail addresses
Skip trace to find correct customer contact info and enter that info into the appropriate system
Follows-up to on disputes/inquiries to ensure resolution
Participate in collection call drives, outreach, and responses to customers
Works closely with Attorney General team on delinquent accounts
Updates customer call notes in the system
Assists in demand letter mailings and other clerical functions related to collections / billing as needed
Assist with daily deposits and payment logs

Ability to perform billing and data entries into key systems and external files
Responsible for collections outreach and responding to inquiries
Completes assigned collection calls and monitors collections progress including researching disputes
Responsible for skip tracing and updating customer contact information
Assists with mailings and check deposits
Assists in preparation of reports, charts, reconciliation and other accounting related duties as needed
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google suite
Preferred knowledge of intermediate to advanced Excel formulas
Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Knowledge of or the ability to learn department policies and procedures
Knowledge or the ability to learn of the principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques of government accounting according to the State of AZ Accounting Manual (S.A.A.M.)
Knowledge of accounts receivable processes and collections
Knowledge of collections methods and techniques
Ability to research and compile information
Knowledge of state statutes, rules and regulations as they pertain to the Department and section
Knowledge of state government and department organizational structure
Understanding of confidentiality

Customer service skills and the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external customers

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and utilize VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and simple financial formulas

Preferred

Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
2-5 years of administrative, accounting or accounts receivable experience or in a related field
