Passaic County Community College is seeking a current student for a part-time tutor/mentor position within the Student Support Services Classic Program. The role involves assisting fellow students in improving their reading and writing skills, while also serving as a role model and providing support through individual and group meetings.

Responsibilities

Create a professional and welcoming environment for our students

Conduct check-n meetings with mentees monthly

Provide mentees with campus resources and make appropriate referrals if necessary

Possess basic technical computer knowledge

Must be dependable, organized, and pay attention to details

Must be able to maintain confidentiality, follow through on directions and complete assigned work in a timely manner

Must maintain a professional interactive and/or telephone manner, possess respectful verbal communication with both staff and students

Provide students with positive and constructive feedback

Required

Must have a B+ or higher in the course providing tutoring and a GPA of 3.0 or above

Completed at least two (2) full semesters at PCCC

Have a flexible schedule with evening and Saturday availability

New Jersey Sick Leave: Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year. (Eligible to use after successful completion of probationary period.)
