Responsibilities

Scale composites manufacturing processes to support high-volume production, ensuring consistent quality and reliability in mass-produced hardware systems
Develop and refine manufacturing strategies specifically for high-volume composite products, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and maintaining stringent quality standards at scale
Work closely with technicians and other engineers, building prototype components hands-on, with an emphasis on incorporating automation where feasible
Own a portion or all of the manufacturing value chain for a specific product or set of products
Collaborate with Lead Tooling Engineer to develop novel tooling solutions for the fabrication and assembly of structural parts
Develop process flows by breaking down large, complex composite components into a logical sequence of sub-processes
Write documentation required for successfully manufacturing at scale, such as work instructions, quality plans, inspection requirements, etc
Collaborate with material suppliers across various disciplines (prepreg, additives, core materials, and metallic manufacturing) to develop repeatable and sustainable processes for both quick-turn development and at-scale production

Required

Demonstrate past holistic ownership in solving a technical challenge with a creative, physical solution that they either personally manufactured or oversaw the manufacturing of, in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment
Scale composites manufacturing processes to support high-volume production, ensuring consistent quality and reliability in mass-produced hardware systems
Develop and refine manufacturing strategies specifically for high-volume composite products, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and maintaining stringent quality standards at scale
Work closely with technicians and other engineers, building prototype components hands-on, with an emphasis on incorporating automation where feasible
Own a portion or all of the manufacturing value chain for a specific product or set of products
Collaborate with Lead Tooling Engineer to develop novel tooling solutions for the fabrication and assembly of structural parts
Develop process flows by breaking down large, complex composite components into a logical sequence of sub-processes
Write documentation required for successfully manufacturing at scale, such as work instructions, quality plans, inspection requirements, etc

A degree in a technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, or a hard science

Preferred

Hands-on experience working with automated composites or general manufacturing solutions
Demonstrated ability to deliver elegant composite solutions in a resource-constrained environment creatively
Experience in establishing qualification plans, to qualify processes and equipment to the customer specifications
Demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills, with backing examples
Capable of designing or defining the requirements for the development of equipment, robotics, Lay-up molds, Vacuum Holding Fixtures, Shop Aids, Positioning fixtures, Go-No-Go inspection tools required for the manufacturing of new products
Understanding basic industrial engineering practices, such as time studies, statistical analysis, ergonomic impacts, and value engineering principles
A genuine interest in manufacturing and a thirst for learning
10+ years of experience in composite manufacturing, preferably in the manufacturing or design of UAV components
