Engineer I - IV - Drainage Program
The State of Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) is seeking Engineers for their Drainage Program, which includes the Tax Ditch and Public Ditch Programs. The role involves providing engineering support, reviewing plans, and assisting in the planning and development of drainage improvement projects across the State.

Responsibilities
Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications
Reviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations
Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems
Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations
Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities
Plans and coordinates engineering projects
Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance
Develops cost estimates for project time and materials
Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff
Qualification
Required
Possession of a Bachelors degree (or have an anticipated graduation date within 9 months) in Civil or Environmental Engineering or official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination (in the assigned engineering discipline) administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)
Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering OR official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination in Civil or Environmental Engineering administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)
At least one year experience in Civil or Environmental Engineering OR possession of a Masters degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Possession of a Bachelors Degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering in Civil or Environmental Engineering administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)
At least four years experience in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Knowledge of engineering project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of engineering projects
Possession of a valid Delaware Professional Engineering License OR Possession of a valid Professional Engineering license issued by a proper authority of a state, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, or a province or territory of Canada OR Possession of a Masters degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering
At least five years experience in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Six months experience in engineering project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of engineering projects
As a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving)
Preferred
Knowledge of the principles and foundation of computations included in hydrologic routing programs, including HydroCAD
