Quality Assurance Inspector- DER/PMA

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough inspections using various methods to assess product airworthiness
Interpret engineering publications, shop travelers, FAA regulations, and manufacturer technical data and drawings to define inspection scope
Determine optimal inspection techniques and sequence of operations
Use precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions, tolerances, and clearances
Review trace documentation to identify potential unapproved parts
Accurately interpret technical data, blueprints, and engineering drawings
Identify discrepancies in aircraft components and systems
Maintain clear, accurate records of maintenance and inspections
Audit maintenance documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to return-to-service approval
Perform in-process inspections during maintenance activities
Document discrepancies using company forms and communicate findings to technicians and department leads
Enter inspection results and maintenance data into electronic systems
Verify article configuration and functionality using appropriate technical references
Communicate inspection outcomes effectively in both verbal and written formats
Support other inspectors and technicians through mentoring and guidance
Collaborate with management and planning teams to prioritize tasks
Monitor compliance with 14 CFR Part 145, Part 21 and the FAA-approved Repair Station/Quality Control Manual
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality Control Manager or Chief Inspector

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Valid and current FAA Airframe & Powerplant or Powerplant certification
Minimum 18 months of hands-on experience with inspection techniques
At least 5 years of experience in a Repair Station or aviation maintenance facility
Strong understanding of airworthiness standards and return-to-service procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong task prioritization and time management
Proficiency in basic shop math
Foundational knowledge of aviation sciences (e.g., aerodynamics, hydraulics, electrical and pneumatic systems)
Basic computer literacy
Skilled in using calibrated measuring tools and general hand tools
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Flexibility to maneuver into various positions for inspection tasks
Ability to reach, kneel, climb ladders, and ascend/descend stairs
Occasional exposure to loud environments
Contact with chemicals and cleaning agents
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required

Preferred

Background in aircraft emergency equipment maintenance or inspection is an asset
Familiarity with engineering concepts is desirable
