Post-Doc on Economic Measurement

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) seeks a post-doctoral researcher for work on an NSF-supported project, the Economic Measurement Research Institute (EMRI). The researcher will develop methods, conduct data preparation and analysis, and prepare research findings for publication while collaborating with partners in statistical agencies and firms providing data.

Required

Ph.D. in economics or a closely related discipline
Research relates to cutting-edge topics relevant to economic measurement including machine learning, firm and product dynamics, and estimation of production function or demand systems
PhDs in computer science or data science with exceptionally strong backgrounds in economics will also be considered
Previous research on economic measurement would be highly desirable
Interest in applying economics and data science to economic measurement is essential
Strong programming skills
Experience with the management and analysis of large datasets
Eligibility for Special Sworn Status with the U.S. Census Bureau
Completed PhD requirements by the anticipated start date
