Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Counsel

Korn Ferry is partnering with a national, full-service law firm to find an Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Counsel to provide legal guidance on benefits and compensation matters for a diverse clientele. The role involves focusing on ERISA and employee benefits litigation, advising on plan design, tax compliance, and representing various types of employee benefits plans.

Responsibilities

Focus on ERISA and employee benefits litigation but will also provide counsel including plan design and drafting, tax compliance, fiduciary and investment issues, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy compliance
Additional experience advising clients on employee benefits and executive compensation aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions, as well as qualified plan counseling and compliance issues
Provide employee benefits services to clients, counselling corporate, non-profit, educational, and governmental entities in connection with the design and operation of their benefit and compensation plans and arrangements
Regularly collaborates with various professionals in human resources, finance, accounting, and other industries in order to efficiently provide practical, effective, and prudent solutions to benefits issues
Represent various types of employee benefits plans, including tax-qualified defined contribution (including 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) plans) and defined benefit retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, health and welfare plans, fringe benefit programs, ESOPs, ESPPs, and equity-based plans
Represent matters involving single-employer, multiple employer, and multiemployer benefit plans

Required

J.D. degree from an accredited law school
Admission to State Bar
Must have at least 7 years of executive compensation and employee benefits, or at least one
Experience working at a law firm and or in-house counsel
Extensive experience representing public and private organizations with local, national and multinational operations
Strong writing and analytical skills
Candidates should have an excellent academic background, and possess excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
