Product Development Engineer II

Responsibilities

Develop new Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS), Passenger Thermal Management Systems (PTMS), and Electronics Cooling Package (ECP) system concepts
Develop new and/or modified electric components like compressors, heaters, coolant pumps, coolant valves, e-fan, sensors, etc
Specify test requirements and analyze test results on assigned products to validate performance and durability of new and revised designs
Determine design alternatives and optimize for cost, durability, performance, and/or manufacturability goals
Interact with application, electrical, manufacturing, materials, virtual technology, CAD design, cost estimating, and sales personnel along with manufacturing plants, test labs, and suppliers to develop new designs
Plan and manage prototype builds and validation testing to ensure the new product goals have been met
Maintain project financials within approved expenditures and be accountable for cost overruns requiring justification and approval for additional expenditures
Develop, release and maintain documentation including models, drawings, specifications, and predictive computer modeling tools for newly developed products
Support Value Add, Value Engineer activities for continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities in the plants
Support problem resolution for production programs and new launches
Support diagnosis and resolution of product issues as needed following the 8D process

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline with limited work experience or 4-7 years equivalent experience in the specified engineering discipline
A basic understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics and 2-phase refrigerant systems is required
Knowledge of structural design, manufacturing processes, and computer methods are necessary
Knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical components are desired
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal is required

Preferred

Prior experience in the EV market and/or thermal management system design would be preferred
CAD software (Creo or similar), KULI, and computer programming experience is preferred
