Mechanical Engineering Intern Summer 2026

They are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the summer of 2026, who will support various engineering projects and resolve technical issues at the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility.

Responsibilities
Resolve technical issues for Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) and help execute capital and expense projects
Apply engineering principles and engineering codes & standards, such as ASME and ANSI, to the design, analysis, and evaluation of systems
Develop calculations and reports to document design and analysis results following ASME Section VIII, IX, and X code requirements, API, other international codes, and facility standards and specifications
Conduct field walkdowns and construction oversight services
Support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and startup/commissioning services for equipment and systems
Apply procurement engineering and part optimization techniques to engineering projects
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems on existing equipment
Occasionally assist with emergent issues and after-hours calls
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Completed Sophomore year of college
Familiarity with the power industry, manufacturing, or chemical plant
Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3 criteria
Demonstrate technical leadership
Interpret and understand applicable NRC and OSHA standards and regulations
