Responsibilities

Directly manage and develop the skills of the production team, hourly and direct salary reports
Ensure the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, and directed
Demonstrate and promote ArcelorMittal Calvert Purpose and Values: Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Sustainability
Responsible for Safety, Quality, Environmental and Production for team
Ensure all operations are performed in a safe and compliant manner
Develop and implement a culture of safety within the team
Lead and/or participate in incident root cause analysis and corrective actions for major failures to include safety incident, environmental deviation, quality deviation, production loss
Ensure operators are appropriately trained to perform their duty safely; Ensure work instructions & HIRAC are up to date for team
Lead team to achieve KPIs
Oversee and improve secondary steelmaking processes, such as developing alloying practices and refractory designs
Implement and develop best practices for operations
Manage the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex control systems
Work with EAF, LMF, RH, caster interfaces for the overall benefit of steelmaking
Manage chemistry control and process times at refining stations
Manage and evaluate EAF, LMF, Ladle, RH, caster refractory performances
Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities
Develop work instructions to manage and guide the process
Ensure technical risks are identified and managed
Verify that the final product meets the required specifications and quality standards
Write work instructions for process to achieve final product
Support the creation of financial plans and budget estimates for projects
Analyze job requests to prioritize work and identify material needs
Manage inventory requirements for alloys and refractories and other consumables
Manage budget and financial performance of refractory activities

Required

Minimum of bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical, Ceramics, or Metallurgical Engineering
Minimum of 3-5 years of Secondary Steel Processing management experience in a steelmaking facility required
In depth knowledge of Steelmaking chemistry and Refractory Systems
Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Intermediate Computer skills to include SAP and Microsoft Office
Excellent communications skills working with professionals, operations/maintenance personnel, and construction trades

Preferred

6+ years experience in Secondary Steel Processing Management
3-5 years experience in Refractory Team Management
Experience in a continuous production environment
Extensive knowledge of Steelmaking Chemistry
Extensive knowledge of Refractory Systems and Gunning Operations
Technical knowledge of Caster, EAF, Ladle Metallurgy Facility (LMF), and/or RH desired
