Responsibilities
Develop requirements and specifications for new products in collaboration with engineering and product management
Design and maintain legacy hardware, including documentation and engineering change control
Resolve component obsolescence and supply chain challenges
Create and test prototype hardware to validate design concepts
Produce and maintain engineering documentation (schematics via ALTIUM, BOMs, ECNs)
Support board layout, prototype testing, manufacturing, and system testing
Use lab tools (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers) for diagnostics
Develop and debug VHDL for FPGAs (INTEL/ALTERA, AMD/XILINX, EFINIX)
Utilize model-based design tools for automated HDL code generation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
3+ years of hands-on design experience with high-speed ADCs/DACs, FPGAs, and microprocessors, including integration and performance optimization
3+ years of VHDL development experience, specifically in signal processing, timing closure, and/ or communication systems – ideally within the power utilities sector
Preferred
Strong understanding of signal integrity, noise mitigation, and high-speed PCB layout
Experience with PCB design for power and signal integrity
Familiarity with hardware/software interface collaboration
Knowledge of UL, CE, IEC, IEEE testing and design standards
Solid grasp of software design principles to complement hardware expertise
