Responsibilities
Participates in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes
Prepares or participates in preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations, civil drawings, steel and concrete calculations, and material requisitions
Checks manufacturers’ drawings and data for compliance with specification and design drawings
Designs or participates in design for minor structures and portions of buildings
Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records
Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
Coordinates development and presentation of material when requested
Assists in constructability reviews
Plans civil/structural layout, prepares detailed civil/structural design and layout drawings for small structures, portions of major buildings, roadways, railroads, etc
Ensures designs are compliant with local and national regulations before and during construction
Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
Originates structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
Prepares building material interface details for review by senior personnel
Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements
Prepares civil/structural designs and construction drawings using 2-D / 3-D computer aided design (CAD), presentation graphics, and civil models and codes
Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
Qualification
Required
Requires bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
