ASSISTANT TRAINING & CURRICULUM SPECIALIST, NF-03/RFT, CHURA WARABI, CAMP COURTNEY
Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! The Assistant Training Specialist will assist in providing and delivering a comprehensive training program that supports the professional requirements of all Child and Youth Programs positions.

Responsibilities
Assists in the development of a CYP training plan and assists with identifying and addressing training needs
Assist with orientation training for new CYP professionals and FCC providers
Assists in execution of DoD Standardized Virtual Lab School (VLS) Training and completion of orientation, initial, an ongoing annual training
Assist in developing individual training plans and preparing training status reports
Assists in ensuring completion of required annual training
Works with CYP Program Assistants to ensure VLS courses are completed
Encourages and supports of continuing higher education of employees and providers
Provides information about the Child Development Associate (CDA), the Military School-Age Credential (MSA), and higher level opportunities
Mentors employees in this effort
Assists in supporting and implementing the approved curriculum to be used by CYP
Assists in ensuring the quality and consistency of developmental programming to include environment, equipment, materials, program structure, curriculum, risk management practices, and oversight and coordination of activity schedules and lesson plans
Completes monthly classroom observations and assists in providing feedback
Role models appropriate behaviors and techniques working with children and youth
Helps to maintain a resource file library to aid in preparing lesson plans and activity schedules and to assist with training objectives
Assists with the development and implementation of parent education and parent participation programs
Provides support for CYP professionals in preparing for inspections and accreditation
Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity policies and communicates support of those policies to CYP Professionals
Incumbent may assume the responsibilities and perform duties in the short term absence of the CYP TCS
Incumbent is a mandatory reporter to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services as prescribed by local policy in the case of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect

Qualification
Required
Successful completion of a 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education or Child/Youth Development or a related field such as Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Consumer Science (Early Childhood emphasis) AND 1 year of full time experience working with children and/or youth
Experience that involved teaching children or other work that demonstrated the ability to perform the duties of the position
Ability to select, train, and evaluate childcare, youth employees, and family childcare providers
Ability to develop and implement child development programs, including family childcare programs, part-day preschool programs, and before and after school programs
Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions
Possess comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills, and the ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences
Must be able to obtain and maintain TIER-1 Child Care (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age
Must pass a pre-employment physical and annual physicals thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease
Must complete all DoD training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, DoD Standardized Virtual Lab School Training, and annual ongoing training requirements, and required certifications, if any
Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications
Preferred
Possess 12 months experience in a USMC CYP or other service Child and Youth Programs
Experience with the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation
Possess 24 credit hours in ECE (Early Childhood Education)
