2026 Student Internship (U.S.) - Environmental Scientist Intern

Responsibilities
Helps integrate environmental requirements into project planning, permitting, design, construction, and operations
Assists with development and implementation of environmental permits, plans, and studies
Helps with site assessments and surveys to identify site conditions and develop mitigation and sustainability strategies to protect the environment and local communities
Assists with technical guidance and support regarding mitigation measures pertaining to natural and cultural resources and communities
Provides technical assistance within ES&H teams and to other project groups regarding permitting, risk assessment, plan preparation, studies, and ES&H program execution
Assists in the development and implementation of Environmental Management Plans and associated plans and procedures
Helps identify and track environmental issues, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder concerns
Participates in emergency response, and aids investigation and resolution of ES&H incidents
Performs environmental monitoring, sampling, and inspections to confirm compliance with permits and project requirements and commitments
Prepares training documents and helps implement training for project/facility employees and visitors
Participates in meetings with customers, project/facility team members, and contractors and subcontractors to advise them of environmental requirements that may affect their work
Performs data management, trend analysis, and report preparation and review
Assists other team members in ES&H program execution, inclusive of safety and health
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, or a Master of Science (MS) degree, from an accredited university or college in an applicable technical discipline such as environmental sciences, biological sciences, natural resources, or related applicable disciplines
Knowledge of environmental impact assessment and mitigation strategies
Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation
Analytical skills related to sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping
Valid driver's license
Preferred
Demonstrated interest, training, and experience in applied sciences
Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements
Knowledge of ISO 14001 Management System standards
Prior work experience related to environmental or biological (field) sciences
Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions
Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed
