Responsibilities
Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight as required for power-plant activates
In addition to providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned commensurate with individual certifications, qualifications, and skills
Types of tasks RP Technicians may perform include the following:
Radiation and contamination surveys
Material and equipment surveys
Release of personnel and material
Material escort
ALARA planning
Assisting with decontamination activities
Support of Site Emergency Plan
Coverage of primary work activities same as JR coverage
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Satisfy all requirements required to obtain a Level II Nuclear Access Badge
Education and experience meet or exceed the requirements of ANSI Standard N-18.1 (1971)
Education and experience meet or exceed the requirements of ANSI Standard N-3.1 (1978)
Completion of GAP training / CIRP Task of the NISP-RP-12 (Nuclear Industry Standard Process)
Meet all applicable requirements to maintain unescorted access
Safe use and proper operation of applicable equipment
Use and adhere to station policies and procedures
Effectively communicate and interact with co-workers, Supervisors and Sponsors to ensure Safe and Quality job completion for all assignments
Ability to understand and follow oral and written communications, technical requirements, procedures and directives associated with working at a nuclear plant
Ability to climb and work in adverse conditions such as high temperature areas, confined spaces, and heights
Able to lift 50 pounds
Ability to be respirator qualified
