Underground Miner - Longwall Mechanic

They are currently seeking an Underground Miner – Longwall Mechanic to join their team at the Shoal Creek Mine, responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on longwall mining equipment.

Responsibilities
Visually inspect shearer and shields for problems during longwall operation
Operate underground longwall mining equipment in production and support activities
Repair of various components of longwall shearing equipment
Dismantling shields for longwall move
Repair hydraulic lifts
Replace hydraulic hoses
Replace bits on shearer
Communicate with coworkers
Qualification
Required
Must possess high school diploma or GED
Certified Electrician
Must have two (2) year underground longwall mining experience
Must be knowledgeable of State and Federal mining regulations pertaining to underground mining
Must have high safety standards for self and others
Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Must be able to communicate and coordinate with coworkers and supervisors
Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays
Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces
Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time
Walking ability will be judged according to SCSR emergency evacuation plan required and approved by MSHA
Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height
Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders
Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination
Must have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds
Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
Individuals in safety sensitive roles cannot have an uncontrolled condition which is likely to cause loss of consciousness or ability to control a motor vehicle or other large machinery
Individuals in safety sensitive roles cannot have an uncontrolled respiratory or cardiac dysfunction likely to interfere with the ability to operate a motor vehicle or other large machinery
Individuals in safety sensitive roles cannot have a current clinical diagnosis of high blood pressure likely to interfere with ability to operate a motor vehicle or other large machinery
Individuals in safety sensitive roles cannot have a current or unregulated mental or psychiatric disorder likely to interfere with ability to drive a motor vehicle or other large machinery
Individuals must meet the minimum vision and hearing requirements to fulfill a safety sensitive role
At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction
At least 70° field of vision in horizontal meridian measured in each eye
No more than 40dB average hearing loss in better ear (with or without hearing aid)
