The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking Undergraduate and Graduate Student Co-ops to support their Navigation Research and Development Division. The role involves supporting laboratory operations related to navigation systems development, working with a team of engineers, and gaining practical skills in electrical circuit design and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

You will support laboratory operations related to the development, testing, and evaluation of navigation systems
You will be working with a cooperative team of scientists and engineers responsible for a mix of hands on work with electrical circuitry, embedded software and/or FPGA firmware development
Co-ops in these positions work on several projects such as designing and building hardware to interface with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation, programming software to interface with this equipment, software for logging/processing test data, real time programming of mathematical algorithms, analyzing data and conducting live tests of sensors
You will learn or strengthen practical skills such as electrical circuit design and troubleshooting, drafting electrical schematics, solid modeling, hardware interfacing, and electrical fabrication

Required

Undergraduate and Graduate students studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering are preferred
Students must be available to work at the Warminster facility for a six month time period
You will be subject to a government security investigation and you must be a U.S. citizen to apply
Employment with ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
