Journeyman Maintenance Worker

Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance – assist other team members with basic mechanical repair on all maintenance equipment, including company trucks, tractors and bucket loader. Assist with organization and scheduling of routine and preventative maintenance on equipment
Property Maintenance (winter season) – snow removal on 10 acres of roads, drives and parking areas. Assures that the parking areas are free from snow, ice and other debris through operation of plows, bucket loader, snow blower and shoveling and sanding walks. Maintains an on-call status during snow season for snow removal operations. Must be available to be on-call during snow season and must be able to work overtime as necessary
Property Maintenance (non-winter season) – on 18 acres of landscaped lawns and 236 acres of forestry land. Operates lawn mowers, trims trees and shrubs, weeds gardens, rakes lawns, assures pest control and assures outside premises are in good appearance. Performs maintenance of site drainage systems. Sweeps parking lot and sidewalks
Chainsaw – Perform cutting duties related to clearing projects and hazard tree removal. Possesses basic knowledge of safe chainsaw operation and safe cutting techniques
Welding – Performs basic welding, brazing, and soldering
Maintenance Logs / Record Keeping – Maintains maintenance logs on equipment
Interdepartmental Assistance - Help with maintenance and installation of HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and modular furniture when needed
Properly disposes of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with regulations
Encourages development and motivation of team members
May supervise seasonal temporary employees
Customer service – represent the Facilities team in providing the highest level of customer service

Required

Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience
1 or more years as an Apprentice Maintenance Technician
High School diploma or the equivalent
Valid driver's license
Basic ability to operate a forklift
Basic knowledge of OSHA / VOSHA regulations
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate manager
Familiarity with SDS and lockout/tagout
The ability to lift and move heavy parts, equipment, and supplies
Excellent communication skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Action oriented, self-motivated and works well others
Ability to make decisions independently
Willingness for continued improvement and enhanced skills

Preferred

Forklift certification preferred
