Tax Director - Real Estate Partnership
Beech Valley Solutions is assisting a premier real estate investment and asset management firm in their search for an experienced Director of Tax. This role will lead the firm’s tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions, managing complex partnership tax matters and supporting the company's strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of tax compliance and reporting across their platform
Manage multi-layered 704(b) financial records, including preparation of targeted income allocations and tracking of markups by investor and by property
Oversee preparation of federal and state partnership tax returns in collaboration with external tax advisors
Coordinate all tax filings and reporting, including personal property tax, sales tax, 1099s, tax payments, and resolution of tax compliance matters. Ensure timely filing with taxing authorities
Maintain and reconcile investor tax capital accounts, including tracking of transfers, built-in gains, and historical allocations
Maintain fixed asset ledgers for book, tax, AMT, and state purposes, including depreciation and amortization schedules, compliance of capital expenditures, and tenant improvement accounting
Manage and interpret cost segregation studies for newly acquired properties
Provide proactive analysis on anticipated gains/losses for asset dispositions and investor-level impacts
Support transaction structuring and tax forecasting for new acquisitions and dispositions
Partner with internal finance team to continuously improve tax processes, systems, and reporting
Qualification
Required
Expertise in real estate partnership taxation and 704(b) compliance is essential and required
CPA is required
Extensive experience in managing tax within private real estate funds, 6-8 years of progressive experience
Expertise in maintaining 704(b) records and coordinating with external CPA and professional service firms
Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting skills with proficiency in partnership returns, joint venture and non-corporate entity tax returns and understanding of Subchapter K partnership taxation required
Ability to work collaboratively and foster a cooperative environment with the Treasurer, Controller, and other team members
Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial operations and ensure compliance with tax regulations
