Design Engineer
EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) is a specialized division of EnerSys, focusing on cutting-edge energy solutions for the aerospace, defense, and medical industries. The Design Engineer will be responsible for battery design and engineering analyses, including conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, and product manufacturing instructions, while collaborating with other engineering and manufacturing teams to meet customer requirements and company objectives.

Responsibilities
Designs components or major portions of a battery system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturability
Performs research, design, and development in such areas as mechanical, chemical, electrical, and other related engineering design functions
Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of battery products
Compiles and analyzes test data to develop battery design criteria for core temperature, structure, power, energy and material properties
Develops and deploys design criteria for selecting components and equipment to use. Utilizing computer-aided design equipment, develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal
Investigates pertinent design factors such as design for manufacturing and assembly, design for cost, material availability, reliability, producibility, weight efficiency and electrical performance to meet contractual specification requirements and cost
Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts. Also responsible for prototype and engineering unit fabrication. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in either Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required
Working knowledge of Solid Works and AutoCad
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and data analytics software is required
Strong communication and presentation skills are required
Effective problem-solving skills, work ethic, and initiative are required
Working knowledge of engineering mathematics is required
Objective and logical with strong root-cause problem solving ability
Microsoft Office, data analytics, and CAD (Solid Works) skills required
Preferred
Working knowledge of ANSYS or other Finite Element Analysis tools is a plus
Working knowledge of APQP is a plus
Modeling and simulation is a plus
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus
Planning, analytical, assertive, and ability to interact with other groups
