Responsibilities

Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician

Assists with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties

Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients

Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing

Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment

Contributes to the assessment of patients and assures the well-being of patients

Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments

Performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services

Educates patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care

Qualification

BLS Provider certificationPractical/Vocational Nurse licenseMedical Assistant experiencePatient educationVital signs measurement

Required

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted

High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required

Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable

Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

Preferred

Some experience as a medical assistant strongly preferred
