Responsibilities
Lead and manage sales tax audits: coordinate auditor requests, review workpapers, and ensure timely completion. Follow up on findings to reduce exposure
Act as primary liaison for external filing team handling 4,000+ annual filings (sales/use tax, HST/GST/PST, and other miscellaneous filings). Prepare source documents and review filings for accuracy and timeliness
Oversee tax exemption certificate process
Mentor and develop team members
Collaborate across departments to identify tax issues, research solutions, and document findings to minimize tax obligations
Support accounting and finance activities including journal entries, reconciliations, forecasts, and budgets
Partner with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities
Contribute to special projects as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of indirect tax experience, preferably in retail
Strong business and accounting knowledge
High technical proficiency; ability to learn and optimize systems and processes
Adaptability and willingness to take on diverse tasks
Preferred
SAP, Alteryx and/or Avalara experience a plus
