Responsibilities

Create, write, edit, and update comprehensive Service Manuals, Workshop Manuals, Diagnostic Guides, Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), and other service-related documentation
Collaborate closely with Service Engineers, Product Engineers, and Training Specialists to gather technical data, specifications, and procedures
Translate complex engineering information and diagnostic procedures into clear, concise, and easy-to-follow language for dealership and fleet technicians
Ensure all published service literature adheres to established company style guides, formatting standards, and industry best practices
Manage and maintain technical documentation within the company's Content Management System (CMS), ensuring version control and timely distribution
Incorporate high-quality graphics, illustrations, and exploded views provided by illustrators, ensuring they accurately depict the subject matter
Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and field technicians to conduct technical reviews and validation of drafted procedures to confirm accuracy and completeness
Ensure all documentation complies with relevant safety standards (especially for High-Voltage EV systems) and regulatory requirements
Proactively identify gaps and areas for improvement in existing service documentation based on feedback from the field service network and warranty data
Stay current with industry trends, vehicle technology, and technical documentation software/tools

Required

Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of professional experience as a Technical Writer creating service or repair documentation in the automotive, heavy-duty truck, aerospace, or complex machinery industries
Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics (electrical and hydraulic), mechanical blueprints, and diagnostic flowcharts
Expert proficiency with desktop publishing software and content authoring tools (e.g., Arbortext Editor, MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker). Experience with a Content Management System (CMS) is essential
Exceptional ability to synthesize complex technical concepts into clear, grammatically correct, and accessible instructions

Preferred

Direct experience writing documentation for Electric Vehicles (EVs), high-voltage battery systems, or modern vehicle networks (CAN)
Familiarity with industry standards for technical publications (e.g., S1000D or similar structured authoring methodologies)
Experience with illustrated parts catalogs (IPCs) or parts information systems
