Sr. Engineering Design Technician - Structures
Mark Thomas is hiring a Senior Engineering Design Technician (Structures & Bridges) for our Structures Division. The role involves creating drawings, preparing proposal graphics, and providing general drafting support to ensure efficient and high-quality engineering documents are produced on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities
Prepares structural engineering plans, drawings, design details, and other documents in accordance with Company standards and Caltrans standards where applicable
Stays current with Caltrans Detailer Alerts and Bridge Standard Details and informs the Structures staff with new updates
Trains new engineering & design technicians on CADD, Company, and client standards
Reviews work products of less experienced technicians for quality and standards compliance to meet project expectations
Updates project managers and supervisor regarding status of projects
Develops processes & improvements for increased efficiency of production
Responds to inquiries from project managers, staff, and clients in a timely manner
Assists with design technician workload and provides direction and guidance to mentor staff as needed
Qualification
Required
2 years of college or associate degree in drafting or engineering technology
5-10+ years relevant structural detailing experience
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microstation Connect Edition, and Bluebeam, and practical use of the applications, gaining any applicable certifications
Working knowledge of the Caltrans Bridge Design Details Manual, Caltrans Plan Prep Manual, and Caltrans CADD Users Manual
Understanding of bridge and wall structural components and details required for different structure types
Detail-oriented, organized, and manages and prioritizes time efficiently
Ability to work & collaborate in a team environment
Demonstrates competent oral and written communications
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
