Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity, computer networks, and related areas of computer engineering and computer science. Instruction in the Department of CECS is primarily in-person. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
Contribute to the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the curriculum in cybersecurity, computer networks, and related technical fields
Engage in sustained research and scholarly activities that result in peer-reviewed publications and external funding
Advise and mentor students to support their academic and professional growth
Provide service to the department, college, university, and broader community

Required

Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field. Areas of expertise may include, but not limited to, cybersecurity, computer and network security, hardware and embedded system security, cryptography, privacy-preserving and trustworthy computing, AI-driven security and adversarial machine learning, security of cyber-physical and autonomous systems, and/or cloud or edge system security. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2026
Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering
Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, and other related scholarly and/or creative activities
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

Preferred

At least two years of teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in computer engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, or any related areas
At least one year of Postdoctoral experience especially in the following areas: cybersecurity, computer and network security, hardware and embedded system security, cryptography, or trustworthy computing
Experience successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
