Responsibilities

Reads inspection logs and quality plans to determine mature and sequence inspection
Perform basic functions such as locating part specific programming, following fixturing outlines, and taking basic digital readout measures
Reviews blueprints and product quality plans to locate critical dimensions and cosmetic criteria used during inspection
Inspects molded parts and assemblies during all phases of fabrication and assembly to ensure adherence to cosmetic and dimensional specifications
Measures parts and assemblies for dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments, templates, jigs, and fixtures
Accepts or rejects parts and assemblies, prepares documentation to record inspection results, and segregates unacceptable products
Confers with production and other personnel to coordinate the inspection process and to discuss inspection results
Inspects packaging of product to determine compliance with internal packaging instructions
Inspects purchased parts, assemblies, accessories, and materials for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and devices. Examines items for defects in materials, workmanship, and damage occurring in transit. Accepts or rejects purchased product, prepares documentation to record inspection results, and segregates unacceptable products
May prepare inspection procedure outlines for reference use in subsequent inspections using data obtained from blueprints, customer specifications, and catalogs
Assists machine operators in determining product quality conformance
Trains new and existing machine operators on operator tasks and product quality specific to each production item
Maintains a clean and orderly work area
Provides information and suggestions for improvement of product, processes, and the quality management system
May occasionally perform the duties of machine operator as directed by supervisor

Required

Experience with vision systems (Keyence, OGP, Mitutoyo, and similar) required
Experience with hand tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, and similar) required
Understanding of basic blueprint reading required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of one year manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with injection molding or plastics required
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively to all employees of the organization
Ability to comprehend and comply with written and verbal procedures, instructions, and assignments
Ability to deal with situations involving several variables in standard manufacturing conditions
Ability to actively participate in group problem solving activities
Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to use ratios and percents
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Due to ITAR and / or CUI compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3)
