Responsibilities
Medical Center Engineering: Students assist department staff as they operate, maintain, repair, inspect and upgrade/improve all of the Medical Center buildings and the related systems/equipment, for example: Electrical systems, Carpentry, Painting, HVAC, Plumbing, Inventory Control, etc
Clinical Engineering: Students assist department staff with proper management of diagnostic, therapeutic, and life support equipment, including: new equipment inventory and safety test; maintain device histories of individual pieces of equipment; repair and scheduled maintenance of all patient diagnostic, therapeutic, and life support equipment here at Rush
Nursing units: Students perform specific tasks in various units that assist in increased patient satisfaction and improved patient experience; units include: NICU, Case Management, OR, ER, Mother/Child, 9 North, Oncology outpatient, Child Psych/Day school, PAR, Interventional Radiology, Hospital Administration, etc
Teaching Aid Assistant: Helps establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, advance physical and intellectual competencies, support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance, establish positive and productive relationships with families, and maintain a commitment to professionalism
Marketing and Communications/Graphic Design: Student assists department staff as they manage Rush's marketing, advertising and branding efforts. The office is responsible for public relations, including media relations and internal communications; and oversight of the University's and Medical Center's websites
Alzheimer Disease Center: Under supervision, student conducts a variety of established functions to engage diverse communities in Alzheimer’s disease outreach, education and research. The student will assist with outreach events and activities for older adults centered on the topics of healthy aging and Alzheimer’s disease
Information Systems: Student will perform simple projects using basic computer skills. Student will be an accountable team member, meet agreed deliverables and deadlines, and communicate clearly with peers and management
Off-Site Locations: Under supervision, students will assist partnered organizations and other off-site Rush facilities with a variety projects, tasks, and engage with the community. Students will perform specific tasks as directed; organization include: PAWS Chicago, Block Electric, Rush Oak Park, etc
Qualification
Required
Student must have a GED or high school diploma
Must be enrolled in an accredited community college or 4-year university
Should display high level leadership skills, work ethic, and appropriate ethical and professional behaviors
Should possess basic computer skills and knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-directed and able to work without supervision
Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
Exceptional customer service skills; should be enthusiastic, friendly, dependable, and flexible
Preferred
Preferred health science or STEM major
