Crisis Intervention Security Specialist
Seattle Children's is a leading pediatric and adolescent medical center dedicated to providing superior patient care. The Crisis Intervention Security Specialist is responsible for ensuring safety and security within the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit by responding to and de-escalating crisis situations, as well as enforcing safety protocols and regulations.

Responsibilities
Respond to all safety concerns in the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (PBMU)
Interact with patients experiencing behavioral or mental health crises using verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques
Utilize Crisis Prevention Institute physical techniques when necessary to control aggressive behavior
Provide safety and security to patients, healthcare workers, and the unit
Protect and maintain a secure environment by enforcing rules and regulations
Identify, document, communicate, and mitigate safety and risk issues
Respond to code responses, safety escorts, belongings and room searches, fire emergencies, hazardous spills, disaster responses, medical emergencies, safety support, missing child, active shooter, bomb threats, and unauthorized persons on property
Document all security incidents or service requests on the unit
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience in Security Services, Public Safety, Law Enforcement or related field; or a minimum of three (3) years aforementioned experience may offset the education
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire
CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement)
Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire
Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire
Completion of Seattle Children's Security ED Screening Process within 12 months of hire
Completion of Seattle Children's Patient Watch Training modules within 12 months of hire
Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location (Annual Requirement)
Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role
Score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department (Service Call, Emergency Department, Entrance, Surge, and Research) within 12 months
Preferred
Prefer prior Security Service or related experience to be in a behavioral health/hospital environment
Valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management
Completion of Wheelchair Vehicle Training
International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification
Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) Certification
