BigBear.ai is seeking a hands-on Principal UI/UX Designer to lead product design for their next-generation SaaS applications. The role involves leading UI/UX design efforts, mentoring designers, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure a user-centered approach in product development.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver hands-on UI/UX design across SaaS products, especially digital twin, simulation, and operational dashboards

Take designs end-to-end: from research and ideation through prototyping, testing, and final visual design

Contribute, maintain, scale, and mature the enterprise design system to ensure consistency and impact across BigBear.ai

Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to align user experience with business strategy

Mentor designers, raise organizational standards, and help embed user-centered design throughout the company

Actively contribute to a range of cross-functional projects, supporting initiatives outside the core SaaS product line as needed

Promote AI-enhanced, data-driven approaches and encourage adoption of new tools and workflows

Required

14+ years of relevant experience. A related BA/BS degree is a plus but not required

Demonstrated experience in design leadership

Excellent Portfolio of product design projects for review

Experience working on an enterprise IaaS/SaaS/software product

Experience working in an agile environment

Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g., Figma, Axure, Sketch)

Experience designing products in the Simulation, analytics, machine learning, or data visualization space

Understanding front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JS/React/Angular) to help inform design and interaction decisions

Strong visual design experience

Demonstrated experience as a senior/principal-level, hands-on UI/UX designer

Preferred

Master's degree

Expertise in designing digital twin applications, simulations, or operational SaaS dashboards

Strong preference for candidates who have utilized AI tools, such as OpenAI or comparable generative design technologies, to accelerate or enhance their design process
