RANGE OPERATIONS MANAGER (Title 32)

Responsibilities
Responsible for the timing, coordination, and safety of combined arms firing exercises which involves armed aircraft, maneuvering, mounted and dismounted types of indirect and direct fire
Plans, directs, and manages range activities
Plans and schedules work, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares work schedules
Supports commanders and staff officers from all active and reserve military units (and nonmilitary organizations) in tactical training requirements within the training center
Reads and interprets regulations and directives pertaining to range operations and activities
Qualification
Required
National Guard Membership is required
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement
Wear of the military uniform is mandatory
Direct Deposit is mandatory
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
Must possess a valid state drivers license
Incumbent is required to serve a 2-year trial/probationary period
New supervisors and managers must serve a probationary period the first time they start a permanent supervisory or managerial position; the length of the supervisory or managerial probationary period is one year
Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration
Experience using computer and automation systems
36 months of specialized experience in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions
Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations
Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures
Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations
Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed
Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel
Knowledge of the principles and standard practices of management
Knowledgeable of the techniques of organization, direction, coordination and control
Ability to formulate and execute long range plans and programs
Ability to give specific guidance relative to a particular program
Compatible military assignment within 1 year of selection
Security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment
Valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed
Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources
Completion of NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position
