Human Resources Specialist - Magistrate's Court
NEOGOV is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources Specialist to coordinate HR operations for the Summary Court Administration. This role serves as a vital liaison between the department and Charleston County’s Human Resources, Safety & Risk, and Finance teams, focusing on supporting employees and ensuring organizational excellence.

Responsibilities
Prepare and process personnel paperwork (hiring, termination, discipline, compensation, etc.)
Review disciplinary actions for consistency and compliance
Ensure timely completion of performance reviews
Participate in behavioral interviews for new hires as needed
Manage payroll processes including time reports and W2 distribution
Maintain and audit personnel and medical files for compliance
Act as departmental representative for FMLA and specialized leave tracking
Coordinate leave requests to ensure adequate court staffing
Assist with annual benefits open enrollment
Provide guidance on leave policies, benefits, and HR procedures
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
Support onboarding and training of new employees
Attend HR-related meetings and training sessions
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree from an accredited institution
5 years or more of experience in HR-related roles such as Administrative Assistant or Office Manager
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local HR and safety regulations
Knowledge of County HR policies and procedures
Knowledge of Office procedures and recordkeeping standards
Skills in Excellent verbal and written communication
Skills in Typing and document preparation
Skills in Using HR software and office applications
Abilities to Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Abilities to Handle sensitive matters with discretion
Abilities to Learn new systems and adapt to change
Abilities to Work independently and collaboratively
Preferred
Experience with Onbase/NeoGov and One Solution
