Electric Power Engineers is seeking a Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager with expertise in EMT modelling and power system studies to join their Energy Resources team. This role involves providing subject matter expertise, leading technical efforts, and mentoring junior engineers while supporting the company's growth strategy.

Responsibilities

EMT Studies: Perform power system studies such as temporary overvoltage, switching overvoltage, insulation coordination, harmonic, flicker, transient recovery volage, energization, lightning overvoltage etc
Model Development: Develop dynamic generator/load models, perform disturbance ride through model tuning and perform PSCAD/PSSE model benchmarking
Steady State Studies : Perform steady state studies such as load flow, short circuit and power quality
Specialization : knowledge of datacenter equipment dynamic and conventional generation equipment dynamic is an asset
Technology: Proficiency in power system modelling software such as PSCAD, PSSE, ETAP or equivalents. Familiarity with other specialized software such CDEGS, COMSOL, CYMCAP, EMTP, PowerFactory WinIGS etc is an asset
Compliance: Strong understanding of relevant industry standards such as IEEE/IEC/CIGRE
Client Management : Provide advisory support to generation, large load and merchant transmission developers. Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives
Technical Leadership: Lead, teach and mentor junior level Power Systems Engineers

Required

8+ years of experience in power system modelling and power system studies
Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis

Preferred

Experience with Data Center equipment dynamics is an asset
Experience with conventional generation machine dynamics is an asset
Experience with control system tuning is an asset
