Projects & Services - Design Engineer II

The Design Engineer II will apply engineering techniques to design cost-effective solutions, manage project scopes, and develop customer relationships while utilizing advanced software for design optimization.

Responsibilities
Applies engineering techniques to design at the lowest overall cost and enhance product value to the customer by either Project, Product or Value Engineering
Provides engineering design and analysis within assigned project scope of work. This may include layouts, specification development, and engineering drawings. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control for the engineering scope of work
Develops resolution of problems of limited scope following standard procedures
Use advanced software such as NavisWorks, SmartPlant, AutoCAD and our in-house programs TRACERLYNX and PROMAN to optimize our design process
Performs various engineering and circuit design tasks within our innovative paperless workflow process
Proactively establish customer relationships at appropriate levels and manage client expectations relative to technical execution methodologies, scope, schedule, progress, and technical change management
Review inquiry documents to identify competitive advantages, ascertain risks, & ensure compliance with or clarified exceptions to customer bid requests & specification requirements
Create cost estimates inclusive of materials and labor (direct & indirect)
Participate in new business opportunity strategy development with Sales and Executive Management team
Participate in the development, review, and communication of proposals and estimates
Impact work in own department and occasionally to other areas and functions
Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or related field
Possess solid time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present and influence views in a clear and compelling manner
Preferred
Previous heat tracing, power design, and/or field engineering experience is an asset, but not required
