The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for delivering direct and indirect patient care, utilizing the nursing process, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
Performs triage and prioritizes patient care based on acuity
Conducts age-appropriate assessments and reassessments of all patients
Administers medications, performs procedures, and manages critical drips
Assists physicians with exams and procedures in the emergency department
Monitors hemodynamic status and interprets cardiac rhythms
Documents care, treatment, assessments, and education accurately and timely
Applies infection control and sterile technique practices consistently
Educates patients and families about care plans and discharge instructions
Collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary team for optimal care delivery
Responds calmly and professionally in high-stress, life-threatening situations
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in Nursing
Current state RN license or compact state equivalent
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within time frame stated in facility policy
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within time frame stated in facility policy
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within time frame stated in facility policy
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required within time frame stated in facility policy
NIH Stroke Scale Certification required within time frame stated in facility policy
Demonstrated ability to function under pressure and respond effectively to critical situations
Preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS)
Emergency nursing experience in an acute care setting
