Project Manager, Radiation Safety Officer

NYSERDA is seeking a Project Manager/Radiation Safety Officer to advance their work at the Western New York Nuclear Service Center. Responsibilities

Implement the Radiation Protection Programs for the State-Licensed Disposal Area and the Retained Premises
Prepare Radiation Safety Hazard Evaluations considering environmental conditions, process knowledge, past practices, and other pertinent information to identify radiation work controls
Independently perform health physics calculations to determine the need for dosimetry, task-specific monitoring, respiratory protection, or engineering controls
Coordinate and supervise contractor personnel performing radiological work
Perform all job responsibilities with respect, fairness, consistency, and inclusion
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree plus formal training in radiation safety and radiation protection and five (5) years of experience as a Project Manager/ RSO or in an equivalent role
A minimum of 10 years of highly equivalent Radiological Protection Career Field experience and RRPT, CHP or RCT certification or Navy Nuclear Power School and Service may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree
Demonstrated strong technical writing abilities
One year of project management experience
Ability to work outdoors, potentially in inclement weather. Outdoor work may include walking on slopes and uneven surfaces
Strong problem solver, with analytical and reasoning ability
Understanding of regulatory, security, health, and safety requirements found at a radiological site

Preferred

Master's Degree plus formal training in radiation safety and radiation protection
Four (4) years of experience as a Project Manager/RSO or in an equivalent role
Experience with Chemistry and RCRA regulations is a plus
Registered Radiation Protection Technologist (RRPT) certification is a plus
