Responsibilities
Provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, integration, stability analysis, hydrodynamic and seakeeping properties
Evaluate systems and equipment, develop and analyze requirements, perform studies and documentation relating to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design
Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats, perform structural analysis and design using ISO and class society standards
Conduct, witness, and document tests including stability tests, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution
At least six (6) years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture
At least one (1) year of experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs required
Experience with naval architecture software solving complex problems regarding hull design
Experience with corrosion principles of metals for surface assets and boats
Knowledge of USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations
Proficient with common productivity software
Strong communications skills
Eligibility for a SECRET Security Clearance is Required
Preferred
Master's degree in Naval Architecture or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution
Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred
Relevant certifications preferred, such as: Professional Engineer (PE) license, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, DHS Systems Engineering certification, DHS Program Management certification
