Sr Tax Accountant
Williams-Sonoma, Inc. is a premier specialty retailer of high-quality products for the kitchen and home. They are seeking a Senior Sales Tax Analyst to support sales and use tax compliance, audit, and special project activities across various regions.

Responsibilities
Prepare and provide auditors with supporting documentation using various internal systems
Review auditors’ workpapers, analyze findings, and prepare audit defense responses
Analyze, extrapolate, and evaluate audit exposure to identify risk and mitigation opportunities
Support the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and related schedules
Partner with outside consultants on projects, tax filings, and data requests
Research and respond to internal and external inquiries regarding tax rates, product classification, and exemption documentation
Maintain compliance calendars to ensure timely filings and remittances
Manage and assist with indirect tax related and cross-functional projects, including data analytics and system enhancements
Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and IT to ensure accuracy and integrity of transactional tax data
Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
5+ years of experience in corporate tax or finance, with a focus on sales and use tax
Experience interacting with auditors, audit defense, and tax appeals
Strong knowledge of Vertex or similar tax automation systems, and proficiency with Oracle, MicroStrategy, Excel, Word, and SharePoint
Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High energy and motivation, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines
Independent thinker and self-starter with sound judgment
Preferred
Prior experience in the retail industry is a plus but not mandatory
