The role involves leading and managing audit engagements for government entities, ensuring compliance with audit standards, and mentoring audit staff.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage audit engagements for government entities, including planning, fieldwork, testing, and reporting
Supervise and mentor audit staff (senior auditors, seniors, possibly managers) to ensure high-quality deliverables
Review and challenge audit work papers, financial statements, and internal control documentation
Ensure compliance with government audit standards (e.g., GAAS, Government Auditing Standards) and Uniform Guidance
Develop and manage engagement budgets, timelines, and staffing plans
Communicate with clients at various levels—preparing and presenting audit findings, recommending improvements, and discussing remediation plans
Participate in pre-bid or proposal work as needed, contributing technical insight and scoping
Work independently and in teams, effectively prioritizing multiple engagements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred)
CPA or equivalent (strong preference)
Minimum ~6 years of public accounting audit experience, ideally including government audits
At least 3 years of supervisory experience (managing audit teams)
Technical knowledge of GAAS, GASB (or applicable public-sector accounting), Government Auditing Standards, Uniform Guidance, and single audits
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
