Grants Project Manager

Texas Wesleyan University is seeking a Grants Project Manager to support its mission by managing the full lifecycle of grants. The role involves overseeing proposal development, grant administration, compliance, and reporting, while collaborating with faculty and staff to secure funding for the university's initiatives.

Responsibilities

Research and identify external funding opportunities (federal, state, corporate, and foundation) aligned with university priorities
Partner with faculty and administrators to develop competitive proposals and budgets
Manage proposal timelines, ensure compliance with sponsor and university policies, and coordinate internal reviews and approvals
Edit and proofread proposal narratives and supporting documentation to ensure clarity and consistency
Serve as the central contact for post-award grant management, including project initiation, budgeting, and reporting
Monitor grant expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and sponsor requirements
Collaborate with the finance office to reconcile accounts, process reimbursements, and track cost-share commitments
Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with institutional policies, sponsor regulations, and federal guidelines (e.g., Uniform Guidance, IRB, FERPA)
Prepare and submit timely interim and final narrative and financial reports to funders
Track outcomes and performance metrics to demonstrate grant impact
Facilitate communication between principal investigators, department heads, and funders to resolve issues and ensure smooth project execution
Maintain accurate records of all grant activities in the university’s grant management system
Provide guidance and training to faculty and staff on grant processes, proposal development, and compliance requirements
Develop templates, resources, and workshops to strengthen institutional grant-seeking capacity
Contribute to the development of university-wide grant strategies and funding priorities
Support advancement and foundation relations in identifying opportunities for institutional initiatives and partnerships
Represent the university in meetings with funding agencies and professional associations as appropriate

Required

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in grants administration, proposal development, or project management within a higher education or nonprofit environment
Demonstrated success in coordinating complex proposals and managing multiple grants simultaneously
Strong understanding of federal, state, and foundation grant processes
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Proficiency in grant management systems, project tracking, and budgeting tools
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
Commitment to supporting academic research and institutional advancement
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of constituents and University employees

Preferred

Master's degree in higher education administration, business, or related field preferred
