Responsibilities
Lead the detailed mechanical design of thermal system components and supporting bracketry using CAD software, ensuring manufacturability and serviceability
Optimize component packaging within the tight constraints of the vehicle, collaborating with vehicle integration teams and other thermal subsystem engineers
Collaborate with suppliers on component design, development, and manufacturing processes, ensuring components meet specifications and cost targets. Evaluate 'build-to-print' vs. 'full-service' supplier models
Select appropriate materials for thermal components, considering thermal properties, durability, corrosion resistance, and cost
Provide mechanical engineering expertise to diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues identified during testing
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
5+ years of experience in mechanical design for thermal systems, preferably in the automotive industry
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA V6)
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM)
Preferred
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in supplier technical management
Experience using CAE tools to assess designs (e.g., Ansys, Abaqus, Star-CCM+)
