Responsibilities
Conduct diagnostic and surveillance testing, including handling specimens, nucleic acid extraction, performing PCR, real-time PCR, digital PCR, gel electrophoresis, PCR product cleanup and next-generation sequencing. The testing process also includes data interpretation and reporting of test results
Assist in maintenance of lab equipment, supplies and inventory. Maintain necessary records and laboratory reports and other related duties assigned by the Faculty Supervisor and Laboratory Supervisor
Assist research projects including planning & conducting experiments, analyzing data and reporting results. Participate in required proficiency tests
Train & coach new employees and visiting students/scholars
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
Knowledge and skills of molecular biology, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, real-time PCR, gel electrophoresis and next-generation sequencing
Ability to work in a team setting and provide general assistance to other personnel
Conduct diagnostic and surveillance testing, including handling specimens, nucleic acid extraction, performing PCR, real-time PCR, digital PCR, gel electrophoresis, PCR product cleanup and next-generation sequencing
Assist in maintenance of lab equipment, supplies and inventory
