Responsibilities
Make routine repairs, answers trouble calls, analyze problems and execute action necessary to correct mechanical/electrical problems; participate in outages when one or more employee is needed to complete a task
Ensures that E.P.A. and other regulatory agency guidelines are followed
Ensure there are no unauthorized gas leaks or releases
On a rotating basis, be on call for one week and work a weekend shift
Perform related and non-related duties as required
Maintain work area and job site in clean and orderly manner and perform miscellaneous and related duties as required
Supervise and instruct mechanics of lower grade
Brief supervisor of any problems that may affect proper operation of equipment
Coordinate repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper shutdown and startup of air conditioning systems throughout campus
Overhaul compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed
Diagnose and repair equipment problems pertaining to air conditioning, heating and refrigeration
Recharge air conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary
Reset air conditioning and refrigeration system and check for proper operation after power failure
Adjust and calibrate pneumatic and electronics controls
Install, repair, and inspect HVAC/Refrigeration equipment and associated systems
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma
Three years trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment
EPA Universal Certification required
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and maintain EPA Approved Freon recovery certification
Preferred
Some positions require a commercial driver's license
Some positions require EPA-approved freon recovery certification
