Industrial Manufacturing & Tooling Development Engineer II

Responsibilities
Develop and optimize production processes for launch vehicle components, subsystems, and ground support infrastructure
Design and implement workflow models, facility layouts, and resource plans to support scalable launch operations
Conduct process simulations, time studies, and capacity analysis to identify bottlenecks and improve throughput
Support tooling and fixture development to improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency
Collaborate with design engineers to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles are incorporated early
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, schedule risk, and non-conformances in both hardware and operations
Support infrastructure planning for launch pads, integration facilities, and ground support equipment
Provide data-driven recommendations to leadership regarding investment in automation, workforce allocation, and infrastructure upgrades
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience in tooling fabrication, precision machining, or manufacturing engineering environments
Strong knowledge of various manufacturing processes, such as fastening, machining, welding, automated assembly, and material properties (aluminum, steel, composites)
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, CATIA, SolidWorks), Digital Manufacturing Software (e.g., Delmia, Tecnomatix, etc.) and interpreting technical drawings
Experience with GD&T and dimensional inspection methods
Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to coordinate across multiple teams
Experience supporting programs/projects through the product development lifecycle
Preferred
Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing/operations, specifically with launch vehicles or spaceflight hardware
Experience with launch site operations, ground support equipment, or facility design
Familiarity with rocket propulsion, composite structures, and large-scale assembly processes
Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing process improvement initiatives
