Events and Business Development Specialist

They are seeking an Events and Business Development Specialist to support various business development initiatives, including event planning and execution, marketing communications, and coordination of proposals and presentations.

Responsibilities

Partner with the SBDM on various business development events and sponsorships by working with the firm’s Event Specialists on site/venue research and visits, facility/venue arrangements, room set-up, A/V set-up, giveaways, catering, photography, etc. for onsite and offsite events, invitation list creation and updating, invitation design, event material preparation, reminders, and follow-up communications
Responsible for assigned events, including the strategy, subject matter, planning, execution and follow-up plan
Meet with and manage third party service providers (e.g., catering, facilities, etc.)
Manage day of event execution, including registration and nametags, handout materials, site management, speakers and presentations
Coordinate all professional accreditations (e.g., CLE, CPE, HRCI)
Work with customer relationship management (CRM) team to ensure system is reflective of event information and contact updates in the firm’s CRM system
Update firm’s CRM system to track post-event follow-up and return on investment
Work with SBDM and lawyers on sponsorship opportunities for the firm, including negotiating benefits packages, processing payment, filling tables, and activation of other benefits, as needed
Coordinate with website team to post event information to the firm’s website
Assist on other marketing and business development projects, as required
Secure internal budget approval and facilitate the review and approval of sponsorship contracts with firm management
Manage submission of conference deliverables such as company logos, firm descriptions/overviews, attorney profiles, attorney registration information and any other materials required as part of the sponsorship package
Manage all conference-related logistics, including preparing and shipping booth materials (marketing collateral, handouts, giveaway items, firm-branded banners and signage)
Serve as the primary point of contact with conference organizers to coordinate deliverables and timelines
Oversee additional administrative or logistical tasks related to conference participation as needed
Assist with the creation, tailoring, and production of pitch books, presentations and proposals and tracking relevant information in the firm’s pitch book and proposal databases
Accountable for regular updates to practice group overviews, deal and case charts, representative client lists, and other materials. Provide updates on lawyer resumes to the website team for periodic updates
Support the collection of experience from attorneys and practice groups for inclusion in the firm’s business development databases. Ensure experience submissions meet the firm’s style standards
Prepare submissions for key directory rankings, awards and league tables
Work with the SBDM and marketing operations colleagues to leverage collected experience by distributing information through multiple communications channels (e.g., website, press releases, social media and directory submissions)
Prepare and develop internal newsletters, client alerts and other external client communications
Proofread various marketing communication pieces
Work directly with the SBDM and relevant section chairs to coordinate annual business planning and goal development, formulate the overall strategy, and execute the tactical business development/marketing plans each year
Review and update periodic accounting reports, working with the SBDM
Perform related duties as assigned

Required

3 or more years of work experience in professional services, marketing/business development or corporate communications
Strong computer proficiency, with particular knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, proofreading and editing
Superior attention to detail
Strong work ethic and positive client service orientation
Ability to learn new software such as InterAction (CRM system), Vuture and a variety of competitive and business intelligence tools
Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Must be poised and able to exhibit professional diplomacy amid high stress situations
Strong teamwork skills and ability to take ownership of numerous assigned tasks
Willing to work early mornings, evenings and weekends when needed
Bachelor's degree

Preferred

Experience with middle market corporations and/or private equity sector
Graduate degree
